Busy day for Duke basketball managers

WASHINGTON — The eight teams competing in the NCAA Tournament West Region first- and second-round games at the Verizon Center have a nice advantage that teams competing at other sites do not:

They’re not separated from their portion of the region.

In years past, the pod system could mean each four-team group would be playing in a separate location. This year, the East Region teams, in the bottom half of that bracket, playing in Birmingham, and the West teams in D.C., have that advantage.
